Gramma’s Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies
Sometimes when its an emotional go, motherhood takes its toll on you and maybe you just want some chocolate… you just need to bake some Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies and maybe eat a few too many of them.
So yesterday my mama came over to hangout with Odin and I, as well as to bake some cookies! My mom had always made these cookies for us while we were growing up. Odin definitely approved and kept on going on about “cookeez” all night.
It’s an easy recipe to follow for some good old fashion Oatmeal Chocolate Chip cookies.
You will need:
- Electric mixer
- Mixing Bowls
- Measuring cups & spoons
- Wooden Spoon or Spatula
- Wax Paper or Baking Pads
Start with pre-heating your oven to 350 F.
Mix together our first batch of ingredients on medium speed till smooth.
- 1 cup of Butter, room temperature
- 2 cups Brown Sugar, packed
- 2 Large Eggs
- 1 tsp Vanilla
In a separate mixing bowl combine these next set of ingredients. Slowly combine into your batch of first ingredients. Beat on medium till smooth.
- 2 cups Flour
- 2 cups Rolled Oats
- 1 tsp Baking Soda
- 1/4 tsp Himalayan Salt
Beat till a smoother consistency. Don’t forget to scrape the sides with your wooden spoon or spatula. This is a thicker dough so it may require you to get messy and mix with your hands! Once the dry ingredients are thoroughly mixed in time to add the final ingredients!
- 2 cups Chocolate Chips
- Walnuts (optional)
These last two ingredients definitely require you to use your hands. Odin is cleared (finally!) to have walnuts but I didn’t have any on hand yesterday so we skipped that. Take tablespoon sized portions and place in oven on your baking pan for 10-12 minutes.
As we are still on our No Plastic journey we avoided tupperware or ziploc bags when packing away our cookies. We have always had a cupboard full of mason jars, as well as our closet. It makes packing up meals or baked goods an easy go to when theyre easily accessible!
So enjoy this little Tuesday afternoonn recipe and tag me on Instagram if you end up trying out the recipe!
Seriously, you wont regret making these cookies.
